THE ACTUAL TEST

The theory test has two parts to it:

  • Multiple Choice Theory Questions.
  • Hazard Perception Test.

Before you start the test, you can practise for 15 minutes on the computers if you want.

Multiple Choice Theory Questions
The multiple choice section consists of 35 questions which you answer using a touch screen computer. To pass, you must get 30 out of the 35 questions correct within the 40 minute time limit.

Hazard Perception
After a break of up to 3 minutes, you then do the Hazard Perception Test. There is a tutorial first to show you how it works.

The test has 14 video clips, each lasting about 1 minute. Your aim is to spot the hazards, which could be pedestrians, other vehicles or road conditions. In one video clip there are 2 hazards, giving a total of 15 hazards per test.

You can score up to 5 points for each hazard. The earlier you identify the hazard, the higher your score will be. To pass, you must get a mark of at least 44 out of 75.

The results of your test are given out after you've done both parts. If you fail either part of the test, this will mean that you fail the entire test.

Good luck!
